PAUL GEROSKI. Hoje a abertura da caixa de correio electónico relevou-se triste. Chegou-nos informação que o Professor Paul Geroski faleceu no passado dis 28 de Agosto. Tinha 52 anos e certamente muito para nos ensinar. Na breve notícia que informa a sua morte, a London Business School recorda o percurso e contributo do Professor Geroski para o ensino e investigação em economia industrial: "Professor Geroski was a dedicated and much-loved teacher and researcher who joined the School in 1987 as Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Business Strategy. The following year he was appointed to Associate Professor of Economics, and was promoted to Full Professor from 1991. He became Visiting Professor from 2004 when he was appointed Chair of the Competition Commission. Professor Geroski also made an extensive contribution to the leadership of the School during a period of rapid change and growth. He was Chair of the Economics subject area for two three-year periods during the 1990s, as well as Dean of the Full-time MBA Programme from 1995-1998. He served as a Faculty Governor in 1999/2000. He was Director of the Centre for Business Strategy in 1991/2 and played a significant role in the establishment of the School's journal, Business Strategy Review, as Editor in 1991 and as Joint Managing Editor from 1991 to 1994. A first-rate researcher, who published extensively in the areas of competition policy and regulation, Professor Geroski's particular focus was on innovation, technological change and the evolution of markets. He had recently co-authored a book with Costas Markides, Fast Second, as well as numerous articles on corporate performance, innovation, business strategy and industrial and anti-trust policy. He had been President of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics, President of the Industrial Organisation Society, and a Member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society, the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee of the Economic and Social Research Council, and of the Advanced Institute for Management Commissioning Panel."
